9,000 Pirojpur farmers to get agri-incentive for Boro cultivation

A total of 9,000 small and marginal farmers in seven upazilas of Pirojpur district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of high yielding ufshi varieties of Boro paddy in the current season.

To increase the interest of farmers in Boro cultivation, the amount of incentive support has increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, Deputy Assistant Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of the district Arun Roy said.

He also said that each of 9,000 farmers will get high yielding ufshi varieties of Boro paddy seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for Boro cultivation on one bigha of land.

The incentive will be disbursed among 1,500 farmers in Sadar upazila, 900 farmers in Indurkani upazila, 1,000 farmers in Kaukhali, upazila, 1,250 farmers in Nesarabad upazila, 2,000 farmers in Nazirpur upazila, 950 farmers in Bhandaria upazila and 1,400 farmers in Mathbaria upazila of the district.

The seeds and fertilizers will be distributed very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, DAE official added.

Marginal farmers get paddy seed 

Another news from BSS, Gaibandha adds:  As many as 140 marginal farmers of Sadullapur upazila in the district got seed of Boro paddy free of cost from a non-government organization during the current Boro season.

Thengamara Mohila Sobuj Sangha (TMSS), a Bogura based national NGO which works across the country, distributed the seed under the activity of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in cooperation with City Bank Limited.

On Tuesday, a function for seed distribution was held on the premises of Sadullapur Model Govt. Primary School with branch manager of TMSS Ohidul Islam in the chair.

Upazila Chairman Shariar Khan Biplob attended the function as the chief guest.

Each farmer received 10-kg of seed from the organization.

Local distinguished personalities were present at the function.
