A total of 89 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all 10 districts of Khulna division on Sunday till 8.00am, climbing the number of infected patients and 1,14,083.
No more new deaths in last couple of days, so total fatalities from the disease reaches 3,195, including highest 809 in Khulna, followed by 786 in Kushtia, 517 in Jashore, 267 in Jhenidah, 189 in Chuadanga, 145 in Bagerhat, 88 in Satkhira, 121 in Narail, 183 in Meherpur and 90 in Magura while no morefatalities was reported afresh on the day, said Dr Monjur Morshed, Khulna divisional director of Health.
The new daily infection figure shows an almost increase compared to the previous day's figure, said the health department sources. "Among the infected people, 1,14,083 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 16 new recoveries found on Sunday morning," said Dr Monjur, adding that a total of 18,349 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.
Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 1, 15,123 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 1, 13.200 have by now been released.
On the other hand, 22 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 25 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am on Sunday. Of the total new positive cases, the highest 40 were detected in Jashore, followed by 25 in Khulna, 13 in Jhenidah, three each in Chuadanga, Meherpur and Narail and two in Satkhira in the division. With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 28,124 in Khulna, 22,073 in Jashore, 18,957 in Kushtia, 9,649 in Jhenidah, 7,263 in Satkhira, 6,973 in Chuadanga, 7,082 in Bagerhat, 5,016 in Narail, 4,071 in Magura and 4,785 in Meherpur. A total of 1,04,398 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus. Of them, 1, 04,301 people, by now, have been released as they were given clearance after completing their respective 14-day quarantine.
