88 families in Habiganj get govt houses

A total of 77 government houses were handed over among 88 families of Habiganj district on the International Day for Disaster Reduction.

Deputy Commissioner of Habiganj handed over those houses to the homeless people at Lakhai, Nabiganj, Chunarughat, Bahubal, Baniachang, Sayesthagnaj and  Habiganj sadar upazilas of the district.

Sources informed, 11 houses each were allocated in the upazilas of Lakhai, Nabiganj and Baniachang, 10 houses each in Chunarughat and Bahubal upazilas, 14 houses in Azmiriganj upazila, seven in Habiganj sadar upazila and three in Sayesthaganj upazila of the district.  The government constructed each house at a cost of Tk. 2,58,531.

On the occasion of the Imitational Day for Disaster Reduction, a discussion meeting, arts competition, rallies and prize distribution function was held at BIAM Laboratory School in Habiganj on Sunday.

Presided over by Syed Raoshan Sultana, Principal of the school, the function was attended and addressed, among others by Amitava Porag Talukder, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Habiganj as the chief guest, Nazrul islam, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, Shimul Mohammad  Rafi, Deputy Assistant Director of the department of Fire Services and Civil Defence, Hamidur  Rahman, Officer in charge of Police (crime), Shafiqul Bari Awal, Vice President, District Red Cross and  Advocate Shah Fakhruzzaman, former General Secretary of Habiganj Press Club.
