On the 100th birth anniversary of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, homeless, distressed people of Rajshahi are soon going to get 854 houses.
The houses were built in the second phase as a part of the programme for 'houses for all homeless people' of the Prime Minister. The houses will be donated free of cost to the poorest of the poor like beggars, disabled people, deserted by husbands and helpless people over the age of 60.
Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Abdul Jalil at a press conference held at his office on Saturday morning informed the government will donate land and finished houses among landless and homeless families of nine upazilas of the district. Under this project 854 houses have been completed. Those houses will be handed over to the poor, homeless and landless people on June-20 (Sunday).
Of the 854 houses, 50 houses are in Paba upazila, 50 houses in Mohanpur upazila. 403 houses in Godagari upazila, 105 houses in Tanore upazila, 110 houses in Puthia upazila, 14 houses in Durgapur upazila, 10 houses in Charghat upazila, 35 houses in Bagha upazila and 77 houses in Bagmara upazila.
It is learnt that earlier in the first phase 692 houses were donated among distressed, homeless people of the district.
