84,000 people to get corona vaccine in Cox’s Bazar

Vaccination against corona virus has officially started in the country. As part of that, 84,000 vaccines have been allocated for Cox's Bazar, which will arrive in the tourist city in a day or two. Cox's Bazar Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahabubur Rahman informed this on Saturday noon. 

The civil surgeon said, these vaccines will be officially given from February 7 through registration in 15 categories. In addition to giving importance to health workers, everyone will be vaccinated in stages.

He added that people have become very aware of Corona virus. Due to which the rate of infection and death has come down. However, everyone must remain vigilant otherwise, the number of infection might increase again. 

Cox's Bazar Medical College Principal Professor of Hematology Dr. Anupam Barua said that everyone was worried about the second wave of Corona this winter. However, due to the united efforts of all, no such terrible situation has arisen. He hoped that corona infection and death rate in the country would come down to zero once everyone is brought under vaccination.

According to District Health Department, they have been conducting extensive awareness campaigns against corona virus under the direction of the government. 376 beds including 10 ICUs and 8 HDU beds have been prepared in 8 Upazila Health Complexes including District Sadar Hospital and newly established Friendship Isolation Center to ensure proper treatment of the victims. 

These medical centers have 1,372 oxygen cylinders, 90 pulse oximeters, 184 oxygen flowmeters, 285 oxygen concentrators, 21 high flow nasal cannulas and 20 ventilators. In addition Central Oxygen Plant is in operation at Sadar Hospital and Ramu Health Complex. 

Moreover, since the onset of corona virus infection in the country, the district administration and the district health department have taken various initiatives to increase the use of masks and protective materials, soap and hand sanitizers.
