As part of nationwide efforts to maintain law and order, the Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested eight armed robbers in Bhola’s Sadar and Daulatkhan upazilas during a special two-day operation on Friday and Saturday.
According to a press release issued on Sunday by Lieutenant Commander Md. Siam-ul-Haque, Media Officer of the Coast Guard’s South Zone (BCG Base, Bhola), the operation was conducted following reports that a gang had been extorting locals and fishermen, occupying land, and engaging in other criminal activities in the Char Boiragi area and surrounding islands of Daulatkhan upazila.
Based on intelligence, a raid was carried out at Tulatuli Ghat in Sadar upazila on Friday around 5:30pm with support from local residents. Three robbers were apprehended, and a homemade firearm was seized. Acting on their information, another operation was launched on Saturday between 5am and 3pm in Char Boiragi, resulting in the arrest of five more robbers. Weapons recovered included six machetes, one knife, two metal sticks, and additional crude arms.
The arrested individuals—all residents of Bhola Sadar and Charfesson—have been handed over to local police. The Coast Guard affirmed its commitment to continuing such operations to ensure public safety and order.
