A Narayanganj court on Wednesday awarded life term rigorous imprisonment to eight people in a case filed over robbery at Araihazar upazila in the district.
The court also fined the convicts Tk 5,000 each, in default, six months more imprisonment.
Additional district and session judge Razia Sultana delivered the verdict in the crowded court room.
The convicts are Sohel, Moksed Ali, Al-Amin, Alamgir, Jahangir, Lokman Mia and Sher Ali, resident of Mordashadi village of Araihazar upazila.
Public prosecutor of the court Jasmin Ahmed confirmed the matter and added that the robbery had committed on December 4, 2007 stopping a motorcyclist at Uchitpura area of the upazila.
