Noakhali district unit of Khetmajur (agro laborer) Union organised a human chain programme with an eight-point demand in front of Noakhali Press Club Premises on Monday noon.

The demands include building of a permanent block dam to protect Noakhali's coastal area including island Upazila Hatia.

Despite the rain from the morning, the leaders and workers of the organization as well as the victims participated in the program.

At that time, Anwar Hossain, President of the district unit of the organization said, by repeatedly building embankments, only government's money is going into the water. So he demanded building of a quick block dam by the army or navy to save the coast.

He also demanded rehabilitation of those affected by the abnormal tide for the last 15 days, distribution of crop seeds, making arrangements for coastal people to go to shelters before the next full tide and providing them with dry food and basic health care.

After the half an hour long human chain, they marched towards the Deputy Commissioner's office and handed over a memorandum to the DC.
