When the whole words was panicked with deadly di0esease novel conona virus, the gamblers in Jhenidah are not sitting idle. They are active with their evil playing ignoring all norms and ethics.
The elite force rapid action battalion (RAB) in Jhenidah have swooped on the miscreants sand arrested eight gamblers while they were playing cards at Hamdah area in the town. They were nabbed at about 8.30 PM on Wednesday, said RAB sources.
RAB 6, Jhenidah camp commander additional superintendent of police Masud Alam said acting on a tip off, the RAB men jointly led by himself and Squad Command assistant superintendent of police (ASP) HM Shafiqur Rahman raided an abandoned tin-shed house owned by some Rabiul Islam at about 8.30 PM on Wednesday.
The arrestees were Imran Khondaker, 26, Sakir Ullah, 45, Binus Ali Khondaker, 40, Anwar Hossain, 48, Lalon Mandal, 47, Nazrul Islam, 46, Abdus Satter, 48, and Rezaul Sheikh, 57.The RAB men seized huge playing cards, cigarettes and mobile phone sets from their possession. The arrestees were handed over to Jhenidah Sdar thana police after filing a case under gambling act, RAM official said.
