8-day music fest to honour legendary composers

For the first time ever ‘Surrashta Sangeet Utsav-2021’ has been organized. The festival is organized to pay respect to the legendary composers through music performances and discussions. Organized by the creative singing group 'Nibedan', the internet-based festival started at 8 pm yesterday (January 23) with music director KhandakerNurulAlam.

Legendary lyricist Mohammad Rafiquzzaman was the speaker in the introductory part of the festival conducted by Biswajit Roy. Pujan Das, Mahmudul Hasan and Sumna Das performed the song. The whole programme was arranged with the melody of music story of KhandakerNurulAlam. Which can be enjoyed directly by joining Nibedan's Facebook group.

Nibedan's director DrBiswajit Roy said, "Currently, the situation in Corona is getting weaker day by day. Yet we are organizing this festival through Facebook group. I will try to listen to some golden songs that are awake in the memory of panicked people. Not only that, we want the audience to know about the legendary composers as well. This festival is organized with that in mind.”

It is learnt that one of the lyricists Mohammad Rafiquzzaman will be the chief guest in this live festival which will start at 8 pm every day till January 30. 

The episodes of the festival will start with KhandakerNurulAlam and will revolve around Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, Satya Saha, Khan Ataur Rahman, Abdul Ahad, Alauddin Ali, and SheikhSaadi Khan and will end with Lucky Akhand. All of them have made important contributions in the field of melody in Bengali music.
