Due to lack of necessary manpower including licenses, eight private clinics and diagnostic centres have been closed at Jibannagar in Chuadanga.
Chuadanga Civil Surgeon Dr ASM Maruf Hasan inspected the Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex on Tuesday evening and ordered the closure of these clinics and diagnostic centres.
According to him, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Juliet Parwin has set up five diagnostic centres, including Shapla Diagnostic Centre, Popular Diagnostic Centre, Time Diagnostic Centre and Islamic Diagnostic Centre.
There are allegations that a class of unscrupulous people in Jibannagar Upazila was opening clinics and diagnostic centres to cheat patients in the name of treatment. In these clinics and diagnostic centres, the conditions for obtaining registration were not being met.
Registration of clinics and nursing homes and diagnostic centres should be given at non-government level subject to fulfilment of conditions. But none of this is being accepted in Jibannagar.
According to the investigation, till June 30, 2020, out of 17 private clinics and diagnostic centres in the upazila, only the licenses of Crescent Clinic and Diagnostic Centre, Alo Diagnostic Centre and Monowara Sono Diagnostic Centre and Clinic were renewed. For the fiscal year 2020-2021, only Monowara Snow Diagnostic Centre and Clinic and Crescent Clinic and Diagnostic Centre have applied online for license renewal.
The clinic and nursing homes in Jibannagar do not have the required number of doctors and nurses. Besides, there is no proper operation theatre and own electricity system.
As a result, the patients who come for treatment are constantly being deceived in various ways and the patients who are treated by inexperienced doctors are fighting for their lives due to wrong treatment. There are no pathologists or ultrasonologists in the diagnostic centres. The technicians examine these and hand over the report to the patient.
