A total of 750 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of Gopalganj district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost under the incentive and rehabilitation programme as agriculture incentive for the cultivation of maskalai pulse in the current Kharif-2 season.
To increase the interest of farmers in maskalai pulse cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said.
He said that five kgs of maskalai seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer will be given to each farmer free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land.The beneficiaries are 180 farmers of Sadar Upazila, 155 farmers of Muksudpur upazila, 150 farmers of Kashiani Upazila, 135 farmers of Kotalipara Upazila and 130 farmers of Tungipara Upazila of the district.
The distribution of the seeds and fertilizers has already started from the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office and rest of the seeds and
fertilizers will be distributed very soon, he said.
