A 7-year-old child was raped by a 65-year-old man at Chanchra Raipara village in Sador upazila of Jashore district on Thursday night. The rapist fled from the house after the incident.
Police and locals said that Abdus Sattar raped the child on the roof of his house in Chanchra Raipara area of the town.
The child was taken into police custody on Thursday night after the incident came to light.
Shahjahan Ahmed, in-charge Jashore Chanchra police outpost, said the child's family rented Abdus Sattar's house.
There are allegations that he took the child to the roof of the house and raped her more than once. The child was taken into police custody on Thursday night after receiving a complaint.
She will undergo a medical examination on Friday. However, the accused rapist has fled the house since the incident.
The mother of the child complained, that last Thursday night, when she wanted to know the cause of the blood in the girl's body, she told her mother the rape incident.

Lebu Begum, wife of accused Abdus Sattar, said, "I beat my husband after hearing about the rape incident. Then he left home and went to Chittagong.”
