7 types of seeds, cash given to 224 people at Ishwardi

To meet nutritional needs, cash and seven types of vegetables and seeds have been provided for cultivation in one hundred acres of land in and around the homestead. 

Seeds and cash were officially distributed to 224 homeowners at the Ishwardi Upazila Nursery premises in Pabna on Saturday afternoon, maintaining social distance to prevent coronavirus infection.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, the government has taken various programmes to bring every inch of cultivable land under cultivation. As part of this programme, 224 homeowners of seven unions of Ishwardi upazila were brought under government incentive. 

In order to motivate 224 people to cultivate vegetables to meet the nutritional needs of their land and the one hundred acres of land left around it, each of the 224 people was given a total of 4 lakh 23 thousand 440 taka in cash for seven types of vegetables and vegetable seeds.

Ishwardi Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Latif distributed seeds and cash from the upazila as the chief guest. Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Mostafa Hasan Imam, Mahmuda Motmainna, Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Ekhlashur Rahman and other officials were present on the occasion.
