7 robbers held with indigenous weapons

The police arrested 7 notorious robbers with indigenous weapons while they were preparing to commit robbery in an inn of Brahmanbaria.

They were arrested from the side of Dharanti Dullai Bridge on Sarail-Nasirnagar regional road of upazila at around 11 pm on Friday.

The arrested are, Ibrahim Mia (30) son of deceased Sahid Mia of Syedtula village of Sarail upazila Jahangir Para, son of deceased Zamir Ali of Islamabad (Gogad) Uttar Hati of the same upazila. Helal (23), Mokhlesh Mia (22) son of deceased Ful Mia of Dharanti (Mulbarg) village and Billal Mia (35) son of deceased Abdul Hamid, Apu Mia (22) son of Ismail Mia of the same village, Md of Malihata village of Sadar Upazila. Son of Akhter Mia. Iman Mia (21), son of Shamim Mia (19) and Anwar Mia of the same village. Confirming the truth of the incident, Sarail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Emranul Islam said that at around 11:00 on Friday night, they were arrested while preparing for a robbery in the Dharanti area of Sarail-Nasirnagar regional road of the upazila. At that time, native weapons Ramada, Chinese axe, iron rod and dagger were recovered from them.

He also said that the arrested robbers are members of an organized gang of robbers. For a long time, they had been stopping various vehicles in a concerted manner on different roads of the upazila and committing robberies under the threat of illegal indigenous weapons. There are several cases against the arrested in different police stations. They have been sent to jail by noon court.
