A devastating fire broke out at Hotel Swarna Palace in Vijayawada town in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, India. This hotel i.e. Ramesh Hospital was used as Kavid-19 Care Center
Police Commissioner Srinivasan said the Kavid Care Center caught fire early Sunday (August 9th) morning.
According to Indian media News18, there were 40 people in the hotel Among them are 30 Covid-19 patients and 10 hospital staff. So far 7 deaths have been reported.
When the fire ignited, there were screams all around. People could not breathe in the thick smoke. The victims have been shifted to Levipeta Metropolitan Hotel Covid Care Center. Rescue work is going on at the Golden Palace Hotel on an emergency basis.
At first, a fire broke out on the ground floor of the Covid Care Center. Then it spread to the second floor. Later, thick black smoke spread rapidly on the other floors.
To save their lives, four people jumped through the first floor window. Police and firefighters smashed windows and rescued many people with the help of ladders.
