At least seven houses and nine cows were burnt in a terrible fire in Bhurungamari Upazila of Kurigram on Thursday.
The fire broke out around 9 pm on Thursday at the house of one Nasar Dewani, a resident of Ward No-5 under Rhama union of the upazila.
According to Kurigram's Nageshwari Fire Service, the fire started from an electric short circuit. Then the fire spread to the house of neighbor Atar Ali and his sister Morjina Begum. A total of seven houses, about 70 maunds of paddy, rice, other furniture and nine cows were burnt down in two houses. At that time, Tk 2,20,000 in the house was burnt.
Later, being informed, Nageshwari Fire Service personnel came and brought the fire under control with the help of local residents.
