A week-long strict complete nationwide shutdown to contain the spread of Covid-19 begins today. The country will continue to remain under an all-out lockdown from today morning to till July 7 midnight.

The reappearance of the pandemic with intensified wraths has compelled the government to enforce a complete shutdown in line with expert opinions as previous measures proved inadequate in preventing the Covid-19 spread. We know the restrictions are affecting livelihoods of many people but simultaneously we all have to keep in mind that human life is above everything. In this regard, the government has already taken measures to provide food, other essentials and financial assistance for the unemployed and poor people of the country during the shutdown.

We all need to stay home and maintain health guidelines

properly to protect ourselves and our families, and the nation

as well from the claws of the deadly virus.

Experts say the vaccines will be a “vital tool” in the global fight against the coronavirus, but it will not end the Covid-19 pandemic on its own. Therefore, we all need to stay home and maintain health guidelines properly to protect ourselves and our families, and the nation as well from the claws of the deadly virus.

The army would be called in to assist the police and the Border Guard Bangladesh troopers to enforce the 'strict lockdown'. No one will be allowed to leave home without emergency reasons. Only those who are in emergency services are allowed to go out during the restriction..

Despite repeated request many people are still not following the health guidelines and maintaining social distancing. And they were seen travelling throughout the country defying government instructions.

We all must extend our all out cooperation to the government to fight the second wave of the coronavirus that increased infection and death rates recently. In this regard, particularly MPs and other elected representatives will have to follow and help others follow the regular health guidelines to check the coronavirus spread. It is the responsibility of every individual to ensure his or her own protection alongside their family members and the neighbours.
