7-day Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp begins Sep 28

High Commission of India, Dhaka in association with the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) and Bangladesh Orthopedic Society is organizing Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp from 28 September 2019 to 04 November 2019 at NITOR, Dhaka, said the Press Release of Indian High Commission on October 17.

This camp is being organized under “India for Humanity” an initiative of Government of India to commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Around 500 amputees from several parts of Bangladesh will be benefitted by this camp.           The event was jointly inaugurated by Mr. Md. Ashadul Islam, Hon'ble Secretary, Health Services Division, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Bangladesh and Smt. Riva Ganguly Das, High Commissioner of India on 17 October, 2019 at NITOR.

Bhagwan Mahaveer Vikalang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) based in Jaipur, India has developed the cost effective Jaipur Foot for providing a new lease of life to people who suffer from locomotor disability, polio and also from loss of limbs because of accident and other diseases.

BMVSS focuses on the poor and disabled and provides limbs, calipers and other aids totally free of cost. More than 1.8 million people in India and all over the world have benefitted from its philanthropic actions.

A team of 8 experts from BMVSS is conducting the 42 days long camp. This is the fourth Artificial Limb Fitment Camp that BMVSS is conducting in Bangladesh. Over 2290 persons have been rehabilitated by the earlier three camps by BMVSS in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in association with Moyeen Foundation.
