7 Covid deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered seven more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,136 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 3,447 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,612,489, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

The current positivity rate stands 14.35 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.63 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.74 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the seven deceased, four were males and three were females. Of them, four were from Dhaka, two from Sylhet and one was Barisal division. 

A total of 24,028 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 294 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,552,600 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 96.29 percent.

As of Saturday, 5,549,332 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 324,581,553 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
