In 24 hours in Faridpur, corona infection was detected in 53 more people including upazila vice chairman, doctors, seven policemen and bank officials.
With this, the number of corona patients in Faridpur stood at 668. This information came from the corona identification lab of Faridpur Medical College on Wednesday night.
Faridpur's Bhanga Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Isaac Mollah, 55 was found corona positive. He is a resident of Kafuria Sadardi area of Bhanga Upazila.
Among the newly identified there are seven policemen, including a woman police officer. The wife of a policeman was also infected. An official of Sonali Bank and a doctor of Faridpur Children's Hospital were also found corona positive.
Of the 53 newly diagnosed corona patients 23 are from Bhanga, 15 from Sadar, 10 from Boalmari and 2 are from in Charbhadrasan and Saltha each. Of the 53 victims 19 are women and 33 are men.
Among the new corona infected in Faridpur, 6 are between the age of 5 to 20, 23 are between the age of 21 to 40, 19 are between the age of 41 to 60 and 4 are above the age of 60. Among them there is a 90-year-old man. His house is in a village of Bhanga upazila.
According to Faridpur's Corona Identification Lab, a total of 262 samples were tested in Faridpur and Gopalganj on Wednesday. A total of 64 people have been identified as positive. Of these, 58 are in Faridpur, including six old ones, two in Rajbari and 24 in Gopalganj with follow-up.
Faridpur Superintendent of Police Alimuzzaman said the homes of 53 newly diagnosed corona patients have been isolated in the last 24 hours in Bhanga, Faridpur Sadar, Boalmari, Saltha and Charbhadrasan.
Faridpur Civil Surgeon Dr Siddiqur Rahman said the victims would be kept at their home for the time being. However, if their physical condition deteriorates, they will be shifted to the Corona Dedicated Hospital in Faridpur.
