The University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide 621 students of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) with a maximum of Tk 8,000 as loan to help them buy smartphones to attend online classes amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A notification was issued by the UGC on Wednesday on the matter.
It said students who have sought loans must clarify about the process of receiving the loan and refunding it.
The university authorities will check the students list properly and give them Tk 8,000 as loan through bank by January 31 nest year, it reads.
Students can refund the loan in maximum of four installments before completing their graduation, the notification added.
