6 killed in Sylhet bus-autorickshaw collision

Six people have been killed in a bus-autorickshaw collision in Sylhet’s Osmaninagar upazila. 3 more people were injured.

The accident took place at Sadipur in Sylhet upazila around 9pm on Thursday (August 13).

The deceased have been identified as Junaid Mia (28), son of Alauddin of Mobarakpur village under Osmaninagar upazila, Fazle Mia (39), of Brahmangram in Goalabazar of the same upazila, his wife Hamida Begum (35), daughter Arifa Begum (12), and Karima Begum, daughter of Hamida’s sister Khadija (3).

Witnesses said a Mamun Paribahan bus collided with a CNG autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction. Two died on the spot and two more died on the way to the hospital. Two more died after being taken to the hospital.

Sherpur police officer in charge of the highway police (OC) Ershadul Haque Bhuiyan confirmed the information, saying a Sylhet-bound Mamun Paribahan bus leaving Dhaka and a Sherpur-bound CNG autorickshaw collided head-on, killing two passengers on the spot. Seven others were seriously injured. The injured were rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where four more people including mother and daughter died.
