The 5th assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) will be held in New Delhi from October 17 to 20, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has announced. Ministers, missions, and representatives from 109 member and signatory countries are scheduled to attend.

Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy RK Singh, who is going to preside over the Assembly, unveiled the curtain raiser to the Fifth Assembly on Thursday. India currently serves as the ISA Assembly's President.

Pointing out that India's rate of energy transition is the quickest in the world, Singh said the International Solar Alliance is "absolutely essential for our planet's goal of energy transition."

The Minister further added that small grids and solar power, which is the cheapest kind of energy, are the solutions to ensuring that everyone on the globe has access to electricity. He continued in his speech by saying that the ISA is crucial for carrying out the international commitments on "energy transition."

The ministry also stated that the ISA's Fifth Assembly will discuss the organization's major projects on the three crucial issues of energy access, energy security, and energy transition.

It added that global leaders from ISA Member Countries will also talk about the ISA's strategic plan for programmatic support for LDC and SIDS Member Countries; support for all developing Member Countries' capacity-building efforts; and support for all Member Countries' analytics and advocacy efforts.

According to the ministry, the 5th Assembly is anticipated to result in more agreement among nations to promote solar energy.
