Fisheries Department of Char Fasson upazila during different drives in the River Meghna fined 58 fishermen for catching jhatka with banned nets.
District Fisheries Officer Abul kalam Azad led the drives that started on Tuesday morning in the River Meghna and ended in the afternoon.
He said five engine-run boats, four small boats, 260 kgs of Jhatka, five banned nets, one mosquito net and 100 pieces of anchors were seized during the drives.
Upazila Fisheries Officer Maruf Hossain, Marine Fisheries Officer Md Saidur Rahman and a team of police accompanied Azad during the drive.
