Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the followers of traditional religions, is starting from Monday. This year, Durga Puja has been organized in 57 Puja Mandaps of Bijoynagar Upazila.

To strengthen the security of the Puja, the village police will be present in every Puja Mandap at all times. 11 mobile teams of police, 8 mobile teams of 92 members of Ansar and VDP have been appointed for round-the-clock patrol. At the same time, members of the law enforcement agencies will continue to patrol the risky places during the Puja.

Kartik Chowdhury, general secretary of Bijoynagar Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad, said, "Our highest religious festival, Sharadiya Durga Puja, is starting from Monday with enthusiasm." This year Durga Puja is being held in 56 mandapas in Vijayanagar upazila. The work of making idols, arranging, decorating the stage and building the arches in the eye-catching pujo mandapas has already been completed.

I hope I will be able to complete the puja in every puja mandapa of the upazila without any hindrance with the cooperation of law enforcement and everyone, he added. With this biggest religious festival of the Hindu community in mind, the upazila has already started publishing different books. Especially on the occasion of worship, the festive mood is prevailing among the followers of traditional religions. Strict security measures have been taken in the upazila for the celebration of Durga festival in a peaceful atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy.

It has been learned that the cost of making idols has increased this time. Prices of clay, bamboo and orange are very high in the market. As a result, the idol sculptors have also increased their wages along with the materials required for making the idol. Even then, the biggest festival of the Hindu community has not stopped. According to the Upazila Puja Celebration Parishad, the Puja will begin on Monday with the awakening of Shardiya Durga Devi and the beginning of the sixth kalpa and will end with the immersion of the idol after the Vijaya Dashami puja on October 19. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bijoynagar Police Station Mirza Mohammad Hasan said that strict security measures have been taken by the police during the festival on the occasion of Durga Puja.

All arrangements have been made for the peaceful Durga Puja to take place in a peaceful atmosphere.

Executive Officer of Bijoynagar Upazila AH Irfan Uddin Ahmed said, "Durga Puja is being celebrated in 57 Puja Mandaps in this upazila this time." All preparations have been made by the upazila administration to celebrate the Puja in a beautiful environment and in the meantime I have met the puja celebration committee with the chairman of the union parishad and leaders of different levels and gave all kinds of instructions so that Shardiya Durga is celebrated in a healthy and beautiful environment.
