57 deaths in 24 hrs, lowest daily toll since April 5

Bangladesh on Friday registered 57 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday taking the death toll to 11,450. This is the lowest daily Covid-19 death toll after April 5 when 52 deaths were reported. 

The death rate now stands at 1.51 percent in the country, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday. 

The number of newly infected cases further dropped on Friday. At least 2,177 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,59,132, added the release. The current positivity rate stands at 10.34 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.88 percent.

Among the 57 deceased, 32 were men, and 25 were women. Of them, 55 died in different hospitals across the country while two died on the way to hospital. 

Moreover, 28 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 13 from Chattogram, five each from Khulna and Sylhet, and two each from Rajshahi, Barishal, and Rangpur division.

A total of 21,046 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.

At least 4,325 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,81,426 and the recovery rate at 89.76 percent.

As of Friday, 3,181,743 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 151,214,432 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
