The 54th founding anniversary of Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) and the People's Engineering Day-2024 was observed in Gopalganj on Wednesday with a colorful rally.
Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Muhammad Kamruzzaman inaugurated the rally as the chief guest.
The rally, organized by the Gopalganj District branch of IDEB, started at 10:30am in front of the District Administration Building. Led by the Deputy Commissioner, the rally proceeded through the city and concluded at the Central Shaheed Minar.
IDEB Gopalganj District President BM Ishanul Kabir, General Secretary Md Abdul Halim Khan, Finance Secretary Atiar Rasul Himel, and member Aminur Rahman, along with engineers from various departments, were present in the programme.
Since its inception, diploma engineers have faced discrimination. Although the country achieved independence with the goal of building a society and state free from discrimination, that goal remains unfulfilled. As a result, discrimination in all spheres has fueled exploitation, deprivation, and oppression in society and the state.
Speakers noted that they have been advocating for their fair and logical demands through various government offices for a long time. However, no effective measures have been taken to address these issues. They urged the current government to take immediate steps to eliminate the discrimination faced by diploma engineers and ensure justice for them.
