53,111 Covid patients recover in Rangpur division

A total of 53,111 Covid-19 patients have healed in the division since the outbreak of the pandemic with the recovery of 15 more people on Thursday. 

Health officials said the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients continues rising amid declining the number of casualties and positivity rate during the last more than two and a half months in the division. 

“The average recovery rate currently stands at 95.89 percent in the division," Acting Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam told BSS on Friday. 

The 53,111 recovered patients include 11,457 in Rangpur, 3,677 in Panchagarh, 4,351 in Nilphamari, 2,625 in Lalmonirhat, 4,527 in Kurigram, 7,310 in Thakurgaon, 14,375 in Dinajpur and 4,789 in Gaibandha districts of the division. 

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 55,388 as eight fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 337 new samples at the positivity rate of 2.37 percent on Thursday in the 

division. 

Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 2.62 percent on Wednesday, 3.81 percent on Tuesday, 4.33 percent on Monday, 2.26 percent on Sunday and 2.16 percent on Saturday last in the division. 

The district-wise break-up of the total 55,388 patients including 12,473 in Rangpur, 3,810 in Panchagarh, 4,450 inof Nilphamari, 2,742 in Lalmonirhat, 4,645 in Kurigram, 7,632 in Thakurgaon, 14,773 in Dinajpur and 4,863 in Gaibandha of the division. 

“Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 2,94,674 collected samples were tested till Thursday, and of them, 55,388 were found positive with an average positivity rate of 18.80 percent in the division,” Dr Zakirul added. 

The number of casualties remained steady at 1,243 as no new death case was reported during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today from the 

division. 

The district-wise break-up of the 1,243 fatalities now stands at 293 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 68 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in Kurigram, 254 in Thakurgaon, 327 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of the division.
