52 held in DMP’s anti-narcotics drive

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in different operations in the capital city in the 24 hours till 6:00 am on Tuesday (June 27) detained at total of 52 people for their alleged involvement in selling and consuming drugs.

On secret information, the DMP’s police and detective units conducted the anti-drug campaigns in various areas in the city. During the operations, the law enforcers seized drugs and arrested drug sellers and abusers, said a DMP statement issued on Tuesday. 

According to the DMP’s press statement, the law enforcers during the operations seized a total of 3,095 pieces of Yaba tablets, 9.925kg of hemp and 123.3gm 51 puria of heroin from their possessions.

The statement also said that a total of 32 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been continuing anti-narcotics operations for several days. The law enforcers in the drives for last couple of days detained many people for their alleged involvement in selling and consuming drugs. 

The DMP statement says that police will continue anti-narcotics drive in the city.
