51 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh registered 51 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8 am Sunday, taking the total number of deaths to 26,931.

The country recorded 1,871 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,530,413, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.

The death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, added the release.

The current positivity rate stands at 7.46 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.55 percent.

Among the 51 deceased, 22 were men, and 29 were women. 19 of the deceased were from the Dhaka division, 14 from Chattogram, nine from Khulna, six from Sylhet, and one each from Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Mymensingh.

A total of 25,074 samples were tested across the country till 8 am Sunday.

During this period 3,586 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 1,478,821 people have been recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 96.63 percent.

As of Sunday, 4,640,672 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 225,213,074 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
