500 sued for Jashore lynching

A case was filed with Abhaynagar Police Station over killing of three suspected cattle thieves in a mass beating at Prembagh village under Abhaynagar upazila in Jashore. Sub-Inspector of Abhaynagar Police Station Anisur Rahman on Tuesday filed the case against 400-500 unidentified people. On the other hand, another case was filed over cattle theft.
Another Sub-Inspector of the police station Mohsin Ali confirmed the matter. He, however, said that police did not arrested anyone in this connection till now. They are investigating the matter, he added. A gang of thieves came to Prembagh village in the early hours on Monday by a pickup van and stole three cows from the house of one Khorshed Ali. Sensing their presence, the residents of the house started shouting. Later, the locals came there and made announcement on a nearby mosque loudspeaker to catch thieves. 

Three of the thieves were caught. Two of them died on the spot by mass beating of the villagers. Another died on the way to the hospital.
Two of the deceased were identified as Sohel, 30, and Sajjad Hossain Saikat of Bagerhat. Saikat used to live at East Baniakhamar area in Khulna.
