500 flood victims get cash and seed from BDRCS in Gaibandha

A total of 500 flood victims of Erendabari, Gozaria and Fulchhari unions of Fulchhari upazila got cash money of TK 22,50,000 and vegetable seed from Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) on Thursday, reports BSS.

The cash money and vegetable seed were disbursed to the flood victims of the char unions of the upazila at the arrangement of BDRCS, district unit with the financial support of Swiss Red Cross (SRC).

The objective of the money distribution was to help them buy essential materials so that they could pass their days without hardship during the critical time, said an official. A simple function was also organized at Balashighat area under Kanchipara union of Fulchhari upazila in the district this noon.

Chairman of BDRCS, Gaibandha unit and also chairman of Gaibandha Zila Parishad Ataur Rahman Sarker and unit secretary Rezaul Karim Reza formally disbursed the money to the beneficiaries.

Ataur Rahman Sarker in his speeches said the BDRCS and the SRC had beside the flood victims of the district in past and the organizations would stand beside them in future to mitigate their sufferings caused by natural calamities.

Each of them received TK 4,500 and a packet of seed of eight types of vegetable like okra, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, cucumber, and pumpkin as grant from the organizations under the activity of cash and seed distribution among flood affected people-2019.

Directors of BDRCS KF Rahman and Sajib Kumar Paul, and manager of DRM SRC Tuhin Samaddar were present on the occasion while project manager Golam Mostafa, resilience coordinator Amal Kumar Pramanik, unit level officer Pavel Rahman, finance and admin officer M. Khurshid Alam, project officer Saiful Islam and project engineer Mominul Islam coordinated the activity.
