Bangladesh Coast Guard’s West Zone seized 50 drums of stolen diesel along with a trawler during a raid in Pashur river at Mongla in Bagerhat on Monday.

Mongla Coast Guard West Zone Intelligence Office confirmed the information on Monday night.

According to Coast Guard West Zone sources, BCG members spotted a trawler filled with oil drums during a regular patrol in the Jongra canal area adjacent to Mongla Pashur River.

As the matter was suspicious, the BCG men instructed the people on board the trawler to stop with hand mic. At that time, the people in the trawler jumped into the river and fled away seeing the BCG members.

Later, 50 drums of stolen diesel were seized from the trawler. However, no information was found about the diesel smugglers. The seized trawler and stolen diesel drums have been handed over to Mongla police station for further legal action.

Meanwhile, police have confirmed that those diesel drums will be transferred to the police station at night.
