Five unusual deaths were reported in Lalpur upazila, Natore, within a week.
On November 18, police recovered Mujibur Rahman’s body, 55, hanging from a tree in Dhupail Palpara village. Mujibur, from Sweetipara in Bagatipara upazila, left home early that morning, his wife reported. Locals found his body near an under-construction house and alerted the police. A note was found in his pocket, which is under investigation.
On November 17, three-year-old Mehraj drowned in a pond near his house in old Ishwardi village. His mother had briefly left him alone to make a payment at a neighbor’s house. Returning home, she found his body floating in the water.
On November 15, Samiul Islam, 18, from Jotdaibaki village, died of alcohol poisoning at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He had consumed alcohol with friends on November 14. Falling ill the next day, his family took him to the hospital, where he died that evening.
Earlier, on November 10, Sadia, 12, from Maharajpur village, died after ingesting pesticides following a family dispute. She had previously attempted suicide. She was taken to a hospital, but her condition worsened, and she passed away while receiving treatment.
On the same day, an unidentified woman was struck by a train in Barmahati. Witnesses found her body under the railway bridge after she was hit by the Tungipara Express. Railway police later recovered her body.
These tragic incidents highlight a week of sorrow in Lalpur upazila. Investigations are ongoing.
