Five teenage boys from Lakshmipur Sadar narrowly escaped a fatal accident while swimming at Inani Beach in Cox’s Bazar on Friday morning.
Around 10:30am, the group entered the sea, but were quickly swept away by strong currents. Fortunately, Mohammad Belal Uddin, a beach worker from the Cox’s Bazar Beach Management Committee, noticed the situation and rushed to help. He used a boat to rescue all five from the water.
Belal Uddin said, “The boys got caught in the current suddenly. I responded immediately with a boat and managed to pull them out.” Two of the teenagers had swallowed water and were taken to a hospital for treatment. After receiving first aid, they returned to Cox’s Bazar town.
The rescued boys are Mizan (18), Hasan (17), Sohan (18), Arman (20), and Robiul (19) – all from Lakshmipur Sadar.
Belal Uddin has reported the incident to officials from the Cox’s Bazar District Administration.
According to Sea-Safe lifeguards, 14 people have drowned this year after being pulled out to sea while swimming at the beach.
