5 railway stations remain closed in Chuadanga

In Chuadanga district, five railway stations out of 10 have been closed due to lack of manpower for a long time.  People of Chuadanga, Jhenidah and Meherpur districts arrive at the stations for going to their destinations. 

The 10 railway stations are Ansarbaira, Uthuly, Darshana Holt, Darshana International rail station, Joyrampur, Gaidghat, Chuadanga, Mominpur, Musnigonj and Alamdanga raiway stations. The five railway stations have been closed namely Ansarbaria, Joyrampur, Gaidhghat, Mominpur and Alamdanga railway stations for lack of staffs. 

According to sources, local trains operate  and stop at Ansarbaria, Uthuly, Jorampur, Munsigonj and Alamdanga Railway stations. Passengers are using the local trains for going to their destinations. However, Gaidghat and Mominpur Railway Stations are closed fully. No railway staffs work at the stations. Tin shed building of railway stations are now unfit to be used. The government property is being destroyed. 

Faruk Hossain Joarder, Chairman of Mominpur union parishad in sadar upazila of the district told the Bangladesh Post that their demand was to reopen the closed railway stations as early as possible and to appoint new staffs. 

Chuadanga, Darshana Holt stations and Darshana International rail station are rendering better services than those of other railway stations of Chuadanga district. 

Chuadanga Rail Station Master Md.Mizanur Rahman said conditins of Chuadanga railway station were deplorable. Recently the building was repaired. But its wall plaster is dropping to the floors. There are two latrines in the station. These are not sufficient for the passengers. 

Only 5 seats are allocated for the passengers of Chuadanga inhabitants for Chitra Express and the Sundarban Express. Shajahan Ali, a passenger of Chitra Express said he did not get ticket to go Dhaka by train and decided to go to Dhaka by  train without seat. 

Inhabitants of Chuadanga demanded to allocate 60 seats with Chitra and Sundarban Expresses each.  Darshana Holt rail station and Darshana International rail station facilities are well. Sufficient staffs are working there, sources added.
