The government on Thursday announced the detection of five more new coronavirus cases in Bangladesh, taking the tally to 44.
The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) also said 11 people of them made full recovery from the disease.
“In the past 24 hours, the IEDCR has tested 126 samples raising the total to 920,” Director Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora said at the 3.30pm briefing.

The death toll remained the same, five. Of the five newly-infected patients, one is an imported case, three came in contact with infected patients and information about another is still unavailable. “We’re still processing data to confirm the source of his infection,” she said.

All the newly-infected people are male. Two of them aged between 30 years and 40 years, two between 40 and 50 and one is aged above 60. One of the five new patients also has co-morbidities which means the person is suffering from other diseases.
