At least five people including three women were killed in a bus-truck collision in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat on Saturday afternoon. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in the Kakdanga area of the Upazila. At 25 more people were injured in the collision.
Officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Police Station Khairul Anam said the truck was going towards Khulna from Dhaka. A Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Rajiv Paribahan collided with the truck in the Kakadanga area.
Five people were killed on the spot. All five of them were passengers of the bus. Three of them were women. The injured were admitted to different hospitals in the area, he added.
Khairul Anam also said the bus was lying on the road after the accident. At this time, a long traffic jam was created on both sides of the road. The accident took place at around 5:30 pm. None of the deceased has been identified yet.
