Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained five suspected smugglers with snake venom worth around Tk 85 crore from Rampura area in the capital on Friday.
Imran Khan, Senior Assistant Director (ASP) of Legal and Media Wing in RAB-4, confirmed the matter.
He said that on information, a team of RAB carried out a drive at Chowdhury Para Lohar Gate area under Rampura police station and arrested them with huge amount of snake venom.
The arrestees are supposedly members of an international snake venom smuggling racket, he said.
Earlier on December 25, six members of an international snake venom smuggling racket were arrested with Tk 75 crore worth of snake venom.
