Two girls were allegedly raped in separate places under Shiddhirganj and Rupganj upazila by a lover and a colleague.
A fourteen-year old girl went to her lover's house at Kadamtali area under Shiddhirganj police station on the night of October 21 to bring her cell phone and then she was raped by her lover. The victim made a phone call to the emergency service of 999 and then police rushed to the spot, recovered the girl and arrested the rapist named Nasir and his three abettors. A case was filed with Shiddhirganj police station against four persons by the victim.
The other rape incident was committed at Karnogop area under Rupganj police station on October 16.
The victim, a worker of RFL Company filed a case with Rupganj police in this regard mentioning her colleague Sourov Das. Soon after the case was filed, police arrested Sourov Das from Murapara area of Rupganj Upazila. The victim in her case story claimed that she and Sourov worked in the same wing of RFL Company and in this familiarity Sourov very often gave love proposals. But Sourov Das that night went to the victim's residence with a new cell phone.
Body of a women recovered
The Rupganj police recovered the body of a housewife from Purbagram village on Tuesday early hours.
The deceased was identified as Chadni, daughter of Samiul Haq and wife of Anik Mia, resident of Purbagram village of Rupganj upazila. The deceased’s father filed a murder case with police station mentioning six persons in the FIR including the son-in-law but none was yet captured by the police.
OC Rupganj said that the body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy and then the legal action would be to be taken properly.
