5 extortionists held

Rupganj police conducted a raid at Golakandail area in Narayanganj and captured five extortionists who earlier demanded twenty six lakh taka as extortion money to Bisshash ceramics and bricks limited industry of the upazila in Narayanganj.

The arrestees were identified as Kamruzzaman Hira, Mohiuddin, Taposh Das, Sazzad hossain and Rony  Bhuia.  

Manager (admin) Sabbir Ahmed of Bisshash ceramics and bricks limited located at Shawghat area of Rupganj upazila filed an extortion case with Rupganj police station on Friday accusing seven named and ten unknown person.

According to the prosecution story Kamruzzaman Hira leading 25/26 local hoodlums have been demanding 26 lakhs taka to Bisshash group of industries, if failed, the industry would not go on production and marketing their goods.

On Friday morning truck driver Tuhin Mia loading goods of Bisshash group industries and tried to go to Gopalganj when 16 to 17 terrorist headed by Kamruzzaman Hira interrupted truck driver Tuhin and threatened him not to move forward until their demand is met.

On information administrative manager Sabbir Ahmed rushed to the spot and the terrorist gang threatened him with death threat and told him if he doesn’t pay the extortion money all operation of the factory will remain closed. 

Officer in Charge of Rupganj police station Mahamudul Hasan said thay arrested 5 extortionists including the kingpin Kamruzzaman Hira and others will be arrested very soon.

For a long time various groups of criminals continued to extort from the industry owners and keep the businessman under a massive threat. Some poor people became rich only based on hoodlum activities in the whole Rupganj industrial zone.
