5-day painting exhibition begins at Kolkata

A five-day long painting exhibition began in Kolkata on Monday as part of the programmes for celebrating birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata organized the exhibition titled ‘Sonar Bangla Art-Camp-2020’ at the ‘Bangladesh Gallery’ Mancha, reports BSS.

West Bengal Energy Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay inaugurated the exhibition while former Bangladesh Bank governor Dr. Atiur Rahman was present as special guest with Deputy High Commissioner Toufique Hasan in the chair. In his speech, Sovandeb said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dedicated every moment of his life to improving the lot of the people. “Under his (Bangabandhu) dynamic leadership, Bangladesh was emerged as an independent country in the world map in 1971. He is the greatest Bengali of thousand years,” he added.

Participants in the exhibition included artistes Shahabuddin Ahmed, Jamal Ahmed, Rokeya Sultana, Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Sheikh Azal Hossain, Syed Hasan Mahmud, Atia Islam, Kanak chapa Chakma, Anisuzzaman, Shahjahan Ahmed Bikash and Dulal Chandra Gain of Bangladesh and Subhaprasanna, Ganesh Haloi, Badal Pal, Esha Mohammad, Shyamoli Basu, Sohini Dhar, Monoj Dutta, Aditto Bosak, Subrata Ganguly, Chandra Bhattacharjee, Chhatrapati Dutta and Atin Bosak of India.
