Foreign Secretary level fourth Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between Bangladesh and Japan is scheduled to be held in Tokyo on February 28.
"The foreign ministry believes that the FOC would play an important role in uplifting the existing bilateral relation into a new height," foreign ministry's spokesperson Seheli Sabrin told reporters at the regular weekly briefing at foreign ministry on Thursday.
She said it is required to enhance economic assistance and boost further trade and investment between Bangladesh and Japan to turn the existing 'comprehensive partnership' between Dhaka and Tokyo into a strategic one.
She said both the nations need to cooperate more in the fields of agriculture, climate change, renewable energy, blue economy, science and technology.
On February 25, 2021, the 3rd FOC was held after a gap of two years while Bangladesh-Japan celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their diplomatic ties last year.
