495 distressed families to get house before Eid

Work on Asrayan-2 Project in Moulvibazar progressing fast

In Moulvibazar, 495 landless and homeless families are getting houses with land before Eid. On the occasion of Mujib Year, under the Asrayan-2 project, landless and homeless families of the district will be provided houses with land in the 3rd phase. Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan said this at a press conference at the Deputy Commissioner's office on Saturday.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that under the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, no one will be homeless in the Mujib year. From the beginning of this project, landless and homeless families of the district are being provided houses with land. The address of these dreams of homeless people is being formed under the close supervision of their respective Upazila Nirbahi Officers and Upazila Administration. Work is going on at a fast pace in collaboration with local MPs and upazila and union chairmen. Under the Asrayan-2 project, 779 houses including land will be provided to the landless and homeless families of the district in the 3rd phase. The construction work of 495 houses has already been completed. The rest are under construction. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the 3rd phase land and housing programme on April 26. After that 495 completed houses in Moulvibazar will be handed over to the beneficiaries. In this way, all the landless and homeless families of the district will be provided houses with land.

According to district administration sources, there are 4324 landless and homeless families in the district. Under the direction of the Prime Minister's Office, 1126 houses have been constructed and handed over in the first phase for the rehabilitation of landless and homeless people in Moulvibazar. The construction cost of each house has been 1 lakh 71 thousand. The number of houses allotted in the second phase is 1151. The construction cost of each house is Tk 1 lakh 90 thousand. However, the construction cost of each house has been estimated at 2 lakh 59 thousand to make it more sustainable and standard in the 3rd phase. Under this, a total of 779 houses will be constructed in the district. The district administration has recovered about 150 acres of khas land for the construction of houses under Adyabadi Asrayan-2 project since 2020. Besides, 356 percent land has been purchased in Kulaura and Sadar upazilas besides khas land in the 3rd phase. In Moulvibazar, Tk 61.29 crore has been allocated to rehabilitate 3,056 landless and homeless families in these three phases.
