49 held in DMP’s anti-narcotics drive

As part of the anti-drug drives in the capital, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in different operations in the 24 hours till 6:00am on Friday (July 14) detained 49 people for their alleged involvement in selling and consuming drugs.

On information, the DMP’s police and detective units conducted the anti-drug campaign in various areas in the city, seizing drugs and arresting drug sellers and abusers, said a DMP press release.

They seized 6,393 pieces of Yaba tablets, 153.215kg 87 puria of hemp, 222gm heroin and 3 litre of local wine from their possessions, the press release said. 

According to the statement, a total of 37 cases have been filed against the detained persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
