46,755 recover in Bangladesh

Deaths surpass 1,500

Deaths due to the coronavirus pandemic have crossed the 1500-mark in Bangladesh with the latest confirmation of 38 more patients died of Covid19 on Monday.

Some 3,480 fresh positive cases were also identified during the 24 hours period till 8am, additional director general for health Prof Nasima Sultana said at the daily briefing.

With that, the number of total deaths rose to 1502 and cases 115,786 in Bangladesh.
The recovery count also surged to 46,755 after another 1,678 patients were released from hospitals in the last 24 hours.

During the period, 15,555 samples have been tested in 62 labs across Bangladesh.
Bangladesh confirmed the first coronavirus cases on March 8 and deaths on March 18. The WHO declared the disease pandemic on March 11.

Among the total infections, 40.38 percent patients have recovered while 1.30 percent died. So far 627,719 samples have been tested.

The infection rate out of the samples tested has been 22.37 percent on Monday.
Of the dead patients, 33 were men and five women. Twenty-five died at hospitals while 12 at their homes and one was diagnosed Covid19 after death.

Of them, 15 were from Dhaka, 12 from Chattogram, four from Barishal, two each from Rajshahi, Khulna and Mymensingh, and one from Sylhet division.

Currently, 63,896 people are quarantined across Bangladesh – including 2,663 newly-quarantined individuals.
A total of 278,350 people have completed their quarantine course so far, according to the DGHS.

Prof Nasima said they had placed 618 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 12,467 after 7,965 left.
