A total of 45 people have died from Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours while 1,285 people have been newly infected by the deadly virus.
The death toll rose again within a day having seen 35 deaths on Friday. So far, the virus has claimed a total of 11,878 lives in the country.
At the time, the total number of infected increased to 7,72,127 people. This information was given in the regular press release from the health department on Saturday.
Of those who died in the last 24 hours, 26 were men and 19 were women. Of those, 35 died at government hospitals and 10 at private hospitals. The age-based analysis found that 22 of those who died in the last 24 hours were over 60 years old. There were 12 between the ages of 51 and 60, six between the ages of 41 and 50, and 2 between the ages of 31 and 40. However, 2 people under the age of 10 have also died.
On March 8 last year, the government announced the first corona in the country. Infections rates began to increase from mid-May last year. By the third week of August, the infection rate was over 20 percent. From then on, the detection rate started to decrease.
During three months, from June to August, the infection rate was acute. Occasionally there was a slight increase in November-December but otherwise, the stats were downward sloping. The second wave of Covid started in March this year and is proving to be more intense than the first wave. The number of patients currently in treatment in the country was declining. However, since March, the number of patients undergoing treatment has started rising again.
When a country is in control of the infection rates is determined by some of the indicators set by the World Health Organization. One of them is the patient identification rate. If the patient identification rate is below 5 pc for more than two consecutive weeks, the situation is considered to be under control. From the beginning to the end of February this year, the detection rate was below 3 pc. Two months later, on March 10, the daily identification rates were released again. Since then, daily identification has been increasing.
