Police have arrested 45 Jamaat leaders and activists from Al Farooq Academy in Maijdi, Noakhali district. Police said they were holding a secret anti-government meeting at the academy. During this time, various types of religious books were confiscated from them. They were arrested around 12:30 pm on Sunday. Among the detainees are Sonaimuri Upazila Jamaat Amir and Chashirhat Union Chairman Maulana. Hanif, 45 people including Amir Mohi Uddin Hasan, Nayeb of Chatkhil Upazila Jamaat, General Secretary Omar Farooq and Nur Hossain, President of Chatkhil Municipality Jamaat.

District Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Akramul Hasan confirmed the matter, saying the detained Jamaat leaders and activists had organized the meeting as part of preparations for illegal activities aimed at creating a volatile environment by fomenting religious extremism from secret anti-government meetings. Their interrogation is going on. A case will be filed against them for anti-government activities and they will be sent to the district jail.
