Chattogram North Forest Division in separate special drives seized 420 cubic feet (cft) of teak logs from Kumira and City ranges on Sunday.
Based on secret information, the division conducted special operations in Kadamrasul area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Sitakunda upazila and Oxygen Rail Crossing area under Bayezid Police Station.
Sources said a team led by Manjurul Alam Chowdhury, Faujdarhat beat station officer under Kumira range, seized a covered van loaded with 250 cubic feet of teak logs at about 7:00am. The seized goods have been stored at Faujdarhat Beat cum Check Station.
Meanwhile, 170 cubic feet of teak round wood loaded in a covered van (vehicle number- Dhaka Metro-D 12-2048) was seized in another special operation in Oxygen Rail Crossing area under Bayezid Police Station under city range at 10:00am. The seized goods are stored in the forest department.
Chittagong North Forest Division’s Divisional Forest Officer SM Kaisar said, “We regularly conduct special operations. In continuation of this, 420 cubic feet of teak logs was seized during illegal transportation on the highway in separate raids in Kumira and City Ranges. A case under the Forest Act is under process. This campaign will continue in the future.”
